55 Laguna
55 Laguna is a former University of California-Berkeley Extension Campus located between Haight, Laguna, Buchanan, and Hermann streets. The lot is set to be redeveloped by developer AF Evans and the non-profit Openhouse. Openhouse will build an 100% affordable housing facility for LGBTQ seniors on the site. AF Evans will build both rental housing and a community center.
OPEN SPACE
The plan includes a 20,000 square foot park, which will replace a parking lot, and an adjacent community garden. All green spaces in the proposed plan will be privately maintained and open to the public
UPDATES
January 17, 2008: The project is approved by the San Francisco Planning Commission.
March 4, 2008: An appeal of the Planning Commission's certification of the project is defeated by the San Francisco Board of Supervisors by a vote of 10-0, with one abstaining (Dufty).
