Open Space 2100 - An Overview
OPEN SPACE 2100 is a multi-stakeholder initiative that will develop a community-based open space vision for San Francisco. San Francisco's current and projected park and recreation facility shortages necessitate the creation of a shared vision of a better city, one that promotes an exceptional quality of urban life and a healthy lifestyle in every neighborhood.
This initiative seeks to engage city staff and the general public to guide and inform decision-making about open space acquisition and development, provide strategies for funding park acquisition and maintenance, and create the framework for development of an Open Space Plan. It will ensure that open space continues to enhance the environmental, social, and economic wellbeing of our city.

Open Space 2100 includes large citywide public forums and smaller workgroups of focused experts (both important parts of the Mayor's Open Space Task Force), neighborhood-level planning sessions, and a green lecture series.
We will create a community-driven policy framework linked to a 100-year vision for great parks and public places in San Francisco.
WHY IS OPEN SPACE 2100 IMPORTANT?
Demographics and land use in San Francisco have changed dramatically over the past few decades. An open space plan—deeply grounded in public participation—will ensure that our city’s diverse neighborhoods have parks, recreation facilities, and other open spaces and elements that are critical for future needs.
